I remember there was a filter in the Google Gmail settings. But I found it to complicated, so I was procrastinating to clean up my mailing box.

Luckily, it comes up much easier.

How to View Unread Emails in Gmail?

On desktop and on your phone:

Time needed: 1 minute

  1. Open Your Inbox in Gmail

    Open Inbox tab in your Gmail account in browser of your computer or in your phone app. Or any other Gmail folder you want to search in (Spam, Sent, etc.)

  2. Add Search Operator

    In the search bar at the top of your Gmail screen, simply type: is:unread

  3. Hit Enter

    Press the Enter key (or tap the Search button on your phone).

Done!

Gmail will now display only the unread emails in the folder you select to see the old hidden emails.

Finally, you can do with these pesky messages whatever you want – delete, open, sort, mark as read or anything else.

Bonus Tip: Create a Filter for Unread Emails in Gmail
